Rome City Republican Committee Announces Endorsements for 2025 Election

Rome, NY – The Rome City Republican Committee convened on Thursday, February 20, 2025, to endorse candidates for City and County positions in the upcoming election. After careful consideration, the committee proudly announced its support for a slate of dedicated and experienced individuals committed to serving the community.

For the Rome City Council, the committee endorsed the following candidates:

  • John Sparace – 1st Ward (Incumbent)
  • John Mortise – 2nd Ward (Incumbent)
  • Linda Fazio – 3rd Ward (Incumbent)
  • Edward Arcuri, Jr. – 4th Ward (New Candidate)
  • Riccardo Dursi – 6th Ward (Incumbent)
  • David Sbaraglia – 7th Ward (Incumbent)
  • John Reilly – 5th Ward (New Candidate)

Additionally, the committee endorsed several candidates for the Oneida County Board of Legislators:

  • Norm Leach – 3rd District (Incumbent)
  • Cynthia Rogers-Witt – 4th District (Incumbent)
  • Ken White – 12th District (Incumbent)
  • Stephen Dimaggio – 17th District (Incumbent)
  • Stew Rood – 7th District (New Candidate), seeking to fill the seat vacated by Gerald Fiorini

Both John Reilly and Stew Rood, newcomers to elected office, bring extensive public service experience as retired members of the Rome Police Department.

Kimberly Rogers, Chair of the Rome City Republican Committee, expressed enthusiasm for the endorsed candidates, stating: “We are proud to support this strong group of individuals who are dedicated to the continued success and prosperity of our city and county. Our committee looks forward to assisting them in collecting the necessary signatures to get on the ballot and working hard to ensure their victories in November.”
